This trail, located in the north coast of the island, is partially integrated in a Protected Area for Habitat or Species Management of Costa das Quatro Ribeiras of Terceira’s Natural Park, due to the biodiversity and its geological characteristics.
The initial trajectory arrives at Grota da Lagoa, with access to Fajãzinha. Following the path, which arrives at a bay, we can see the phenomenon of prismatic disjunction. The trail then passes trough “curraletas” of old vineyards and coastal heaths that lead to Baía das Pombas, an ideal place for birdwatching, with the presence of Common Tern (Sterna hirundo) in the summer, Rock Dove (Columba livia) and Azores Wood Pigeon (Columba palumbus azorica) all year round. Proceed to Ponta do Mistério, with a coastal lagoon in the rocks. The trail ends in a path between pastures and de cliff, a rich area with Pittosporum undulatum and Morella faya trees.
