This trail takes place in the Monte Brasil Protected Area, which belongs to the area classified as UNESCO World Heritage. Entering the Fortress of São João Baptista, we find on the left a dirt path that leads to the chapel of Santo António. From here, you pass through the picnic park of Monte Brasil and follow a dirt path that takes us to the highest point of the trail – Pico do Facho – with 205 meters of altitude. Then, it goes down a path with numerous curves to Forte da Quebrada. You take a shortcut to the optional variant – Whale Watch and World War II Watch Post. We continue to the viewpoint over the caldera of this extinct volcano. Subsequently, you go up a path to Pico das Cruzinhas – a landmark of the city of Angra do Heroísmo. Descending to the picnic area we follow a small path that leads to the pavement, returning to the starting point of the trail.
